VBR Club Meeting

President Dennis continues to strike out with his running

jokes, puns and gags, and this has actually become a

great source of club entertainment. I believe that we

may be hitting our stride

Our guest speaker, Henri Haber from the Modesto Sunrise

Rotary Club talks to the club about setting up microfinance

banks in impoverished 3rd world countries to give small

business-type loans to people to help boost their economies

and build a financial infrastructure. Last year the approved

approximately 2 million loans, most of them between

$100-300 each and have a repayment rate of 98%.

VBR Club Meeting

Dr. Ramon Resa gives the club the inspirational story of his life. Dr Resa went from an abused, stuttering farm-worker with virtually no parents, to a Pediatrician and public speaker. This was one of VBR's most inspirational programs of the year. The club was so moved that we gave him a standing ovation at the close of his talk. Here is a link to his personal website.

VBR Meeting and District Governor's Visit

Cal Sisto announces to the club that we will be purchasing 150 bicycles in December and will be having our annual bicycle assembly project. We donate the bicycles throughout the county to charities that distribute those, along with bike helmets, to needy children at Christmas.

Current District 5230 Governor, August Hioco, addresses the club and delivers a message from Rotary International and keeps us informed on issues happening at the RI level.
