CAMP ROYAL
Camp Royal is based upon Rotary's RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) Program, which is Rotary's leadership training program for young people. Camp Royal is a leadership camp for high school young men and women who are entering their senior year. It is a week-long practicum in leadership. Students are selected by each of the Rotary clubs in District 5230. They must be proven leaders, have high academic achievement and be involved in co and extra-curricular activities. Young men and women attend separate weeks of Camp Royal. The camp is located at Lake Sequoia adjacent to Kings Canyon National Park. Motivational speakers and Rotarians do presentations, but the day to day responsibilities and administration are up to the students.
CampRoyal emphasizes leadership, citizenship, and personal growth, and aims to:
· Demonstrate Rotary's respect and concern for youth
· Provide an effective training experience for selected youth and potential leaders
· Encourage leadership of youth by youth
